Jefferson Market Courthouse (1877) on 6th Ave & 10th street in the heart of Greenwich Village, was the first courthouse to have a night court in the country. It was also the court where Harry K. Thaw, the murderer of Sanford White was arraigned. It was almost demolished in the 50's and is now landmarked, converted to house a branch of the New York Public Library.
